Solstice Stories - Call for Entries
Solstice Stories 2026 - Call for Entries
This year we’re looking to host a community event centered around human connection and storytelling about Cerrillos Hills State Park. Many residents of the area have been enjoying the hills of Cerrillos even before it was a park, and we’d like to invite the community to share their experiences, stories and objects associated with this special place.
This event will be an evening meet & greet followed by a presentation of a selection of submissions, read live by their authors or by Park Rangers. We will also be showcasing a selection of objects and photographs in our Visitor Center, to be on view for the week of the event. Come listen to stories, poetry and learn about memories of this place, together with the community.
What to Submit
We are looking for stories, poems, prose, photos and/or objects that reflect the community of the Cerrillos Hills and Los Cerrillos Village. Perhaps you have a childhood story of growing up here and hiking the hills before it was a park. Maybe you’ve just moved here and have had an experience in the park you’d like to share. Or perhaps your family has an object that reflects life in Los Cerrillos during an earlier time. We invite you to submit these memories for inclusion in our presentation.
Submit Any of the Following:
Stories or Poems: PDF or Word Document. 500 words or less please.
Objects: Photo of the object and description of what it is.
Photographs: Images and description of subjects, time period and place.
Submissions for this event will close on December 2nd. Event date TBA. You will be contacted if your story and/or items will be included.
