First Day Hike

Hike starts promptly at 1:00pm.

Celebrate the New Year and Cerrillos Hills State Park's 15th consecutive First Day Hike! This year's edition will feature a trivia contest with prizes and interactive frivolity! The planned route will allow a mid-point to drop off, giving you 1.5 miles for your first hike of 2026. The full hike will cover just over 3 miles. Expect some hiking uphill and varied surfaces ranging from sandy to rocky. Pack snacks, and water, and wear sturdy shoes. Meet at the state park entrance, 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos Village on County Rd 59. 

Meet at the state park entrance, 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos Village on County Rd 59. Hike starts promptly at 10am. Parking is free for New Mexico residents (NM license plate or ID required, October - April). Out of state visitors, bring $10 exact cash or check to pay the parking fee.
