"Amigo" is the Spanish word for friend.
Amigos de Cerrillos Hills State Park was formed in 2012 by a group of community members committed to supporting the goals of the Cerrillos Hills State Park. The Amigos operates under a cooperative agreement with the State Parks Division of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department. The Amigos are incorporated under the New Mexico Nonprofit Corporation Act. Our mission is to help park staff and the Cerrillos Hills State Park create and maintain educational & recreational opportunities through fundraising and volunteering activities. We are committed to finding creative ways to help maintain park facilities, improve park services and provide financial support for educational programs.
Amigos activities include supporting park programs by providing stipends for expenses to speakers as necessary, funding part of the cost of mailing the quarterly program announcement to all residents in the Cerrillos ZIP Code, stocking and operating the Gift Shop in the Park Headquarters, and participating in the annual Cerrillos Village Yard Sale to raise funds for our activities. Additionally, members volunteer their services in a variety of activities to support the Park.
