Plumbeous Vireo - summer & fall migratory

Vireo plumbeus

Size: 5 - 6") - Vireo

Blue or gray head and full white spectacles; back yellow olive; two white wing bars; white or buff on breast; white below with yellow or gray buff flanks.


Warbling Vireo - confirmed presence

Vireo gilvus

Size: 5" - Vireo

Drab looking. Pale gray above; slight olive cast; dusky white below; no wing bars; eyebrow white.

Song melodious warbling.

Sighted at the Leonora Curtin Natural History Area (a lush, well-watered preserve 3 miles north of Cerro Bonanza, near La Ciénega)

Plumbeous Vireo, Warbling Vireo - TRANSIENT (fall & spring)

Sighted at the Ortiz Mountains Educational Preserve (an isolated high mountain group -- 7,000 to 9,000 feet elevation -- eight miles south of Cerrillos.)
