Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - confirmed presence, Spring & Fall, riparian

Polioptila caerulea

Size: 4.5" [11.4 cm] - Old World Warbler

Blue-gray above; white below; eye ring white; male: black line over eye summer; tail black, white outer feathers. Often wags tail sideways.

Song thin, wheezy.


IN OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS Sighted at the Ortiz Mountains Educational Preserve (an isolated high mountain group -- 7,000 to 9,000 feet [2,133.6 to 2,743.2 meters] elevation -- eight miles [12.9 kilometers] south of Cerrillos.)
