The immediate area of the Cerrillos Hills Historic Park lacks habitat suitable for these shore birds and as a consequence they rarely seen here. They may be seen from the Hills while on the wing, or as an accidental visitor.

- Western Sandpiper, recorded May 5, 1998.

IN OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS

Sighted at the Leonora Curtin Natural History Area (a lush, well-watered preserve 3 miles north of Cerro Bonanza, near La Ciénega)
