MINERS in the CERRILLOS HILLS - 1880

Iowa Hill Mines

The Cock-of-the-Walk is the mine in the foreground with the windlass and men, and the Mary Mine is further away on extreme right of the photo. Both mines had old workings on them and are two of the forty mines reported as Old Spanish Mines in the district.

The road from Bonanza to Hungry Gulch passed next to these two mines, and Santa Rosita Mountain is in the background.
