All Committees function at the pleasure and under the general direction of the President and Executive Committee. They take direction from the Executive Committee and execute what is needed for the President and Executive Committee to fulfill the purposes and needs of the organization.
The Education Committee develops educational and communications materials such as
flyers, brochures, educational letters, fact sheets, etc. for the organization's
use. The Committee is responsible for drafting news releases (approved by the
President or Executive Committee), assisting in arranging public relations events,
and drafting educational materials for use by the organization with touring groups
and the public. They coordinate and handle the group's website, and oversee
volunteer coordination of the group. This committee group promotes support for
this park and organization and for the education of the public.
The Design and Development Committee, under direction from the President and
Executive Committee, leads the design of the layout of the Park and the development
of that design. This includes design and layout of trails, use plans and criteria,
"staging" areas, facility location and design, etc. They are charged to obtain
appropriate input from user groups to maximize resource and habitat protection
and balance that with public access and appropriate recreational use.
The Fund-Raising Committee is responsible for the overall fundraising of the
organization. They coordinate and prepare, with input, guidance, and approval or
authorization from the President and Executive Committee, grant applications and
requests to individuals and institutions for funds to the organization. They
develop an overall fund-raising plan for the organization and do what it takes,
with help from other members of the organization, to execute that plan
successfully and raise the funds the organization needs. This includes writing
and submitting grants, planning and participating in fundraising events,
requesting private donations from individuals, etc.
The Lands Committee oversees the acquisition of land and rights-of-way that
expand and enhance the park's utilization, protection, and preservation of
available land. This Committee, working with the President and Executive Committee,
provides leadership in securing land options, coordinating land purchases, and
obtaining rights of way and various land permissions for the use of the Park.
